One of the most effective ways to protect your business is a documentary credit. A letter of credit is a written obligation issued by a bank on behalf of the importer to pay the exporter for goods or services within a certain period of time. However, payment is made if the seller submits the complete list of documents requested under the letter of credit, at the time and in the form specified in the letter of credit.
