With the official sponsorship of Basisbank, Mestia will host the 5th Svaneti International Film Festival from September 8th to 13th.
The 5th Svaneti International Film Festival "Dali" is one of the most significant events in the country's cultural landscape. It was founded in 2021 by directors Mariam Khatchvani and Teimuraz Chkhvimiani. The festival has become an integral part of the global film festival circuit, and this year, Mestia will once again welcome guests from around the world.
Annually, the festival attracts programmers, selection committee members, and renowned directors from major international film festivals, including Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, Thessaloniki, Karlovy Vary, and Tallinn.
For the fifth consecutive year, this space, filled with a love for cinema, will unite the Georgian and international film industries. The festival program includes a Work-in-Progress/Post-Production competition, masterclasses, outdoor screenings of contemporary and classic films, and a unique cultural and touristic experience at the "Cinema in the Mountains."
Film screenings at the Svaneti International Film Festival will be held daily at the Mestia Culture and Art Center and in an open-air cinema on Seti Square. This year's festival will open and close with a retrospective of films by the esteemed director Eldar Shengelaia, honoring his legacy with screenings of "The White Caravan" and "Blue Mountains."
